a:c print projects is the collaborative art book publishing project of myself and Carrie Cooper. We produce limited edition books from a broad range of artists with varying backgrounds and career status. a:c works with artists who are new to the book format and collaborates with them on design, format, and written elements. Our works often create new adaptations of an artist’s work, or prompt new work suited the format. As visual artists ourselves, we periodically create original works together, such as Is a Wave a Page of Water? (2021), the proceeds of which fund the production costs for our collaborators.

a:c print projects grew out of our mutual love for books and the artist book format. The book is a highly democratic and distributable medium. Books are inexpensive to produce, and therefore can be collected by a broader audience.

The mission is pretty simple:

a:c print projects curates contemplative publications that bind artist and viewer in an organic, generative process.

Each artist's book supports the creation of future artist's books.

Each collector's purchase supports the publication of more artist's books for you to collect.

Some examples of our projects include A Field Guide to the Outstanding, by Llaboratory Co. (Ryan Peter Miller and Marco Rosichelli). This perfect-bound edition of 100, commemorates their short-lived public art piece Outstanding in the Field. The project was a humorously absurd institutional critique. However, due to the remoteness of its location in New York, Texas, the work exists as lore as much or more so than as a physical work of art. A Field Guide to the Outstanding builds upon its lore with both accurate and fictionalized recounting of the project.

Me Explain things to You, by Connie Wong, expands a series of previously unexhibited drawings. The book features whimsical line drawings that illustrate mis-hearings, and misunderstandings, from the vantage point of a non-native English speaker. Connie’s work brings a sense of warmth and humor to this relatable experience. Creating this book brought a sense of completion and resolve to the work and provided the artist with a new medium and format.

a:c print projects has been jury selected to the Cincinnati Art Book Fair in 2019 and 2021, and Small Press Fest (hosted by the University of Illinois Library) in 2021. Our collection was recently acquired by the Artist Book Collection at Cornell University. We plan to continue to have our works collected by libraries and academic institutions to ensure that the works are publicly available and used for educational purposes.
